Angela and Jacquie began their careers as Registered
Nurses progressing on to train and qualify as Midwives and then attending
Liverpool University to train and qualify as Registered Health Visitors.
They each have 20 years experience working with parents and their children.
We invite you to come along to our practical parenting
sessions where we will cover the following:
Up and running with weaning
and Toddler eating
A child's early experience of eating set's the foundation for the development
of attitudes towards food and the receptiveness to explore and enjoy
different tastes and textures. In this session we will look at:
· Types of foods
· Textures and progression to family foods
· How to deal with food refusal
· Windows of opportunity
· Social aspects of eating
· Avoiding toddler eating issues
· Impacts of anaemia on development and how to avoid it
Sleep
This session has been designed to enable parents to identify how their
baby sleeps and to allow them to work towards guiding their child into
a contented sleep pattern. Sleep helps young mind's to develop in many
ways. It enables the brain to process and optimize information therefore
encouraging and sharpening cognitive development. Physically good quality
sleep facilitates blood being directed to developing muscles, growing
tissues are repaired, the immune system is given support to develop
and vital hormones are released for optimum growth and development.
This session we will cover:
· Sleep cycles and patterns in infancy
· How to recognise core sleep patterns
· Age appropriate expectations
· Preparation of evening settling to facilitate peaceful nights
· Problems and how to deal with them
· How to encourage good sleep patterns for early childhood
Managing the Toddler years
In this session we will look at the Toddlers journey through the development
of their emotions, what it means and feels like to them and how to guide
them through this stage using positive behaviour management strategies.
This session will include:
· The development of the emotional being
· Behaviour patterns and what they mean
· Age appropriate expectations
· How to deal with problems in relation to the child's developmental
stage
· Positive behaviour management strategies for managing difficult
behaviour
